    He moved to Wales at the age of two with his parents.
    He spent seven years near Scolton Manor where his father was a gamekeeper. He then moved to Slade, Puncheston, and attended the village school. He later did a lot of contracting work, and shearing sheep in different parts of the county.
    Ron lived at Slade for 68 years and spent most of that time as a shepherd, as well as numerous jobs in his younger days. He used to enjoy his holidays abroad and at home when time allowed. He was also a keen sea fisherman.
    The funeral took place at St Mary’s Church, Puncheston, on February 16th.
    The bearers were Alan Bain, John Howells, Glyndwr Thomas, David Devonald, Graham Harries and Jamie Owen. Richard Nicholas distributed the leaflets.
    Chief mourners were: Enid (wife); Nigel Hughes, Martin Hughes, Sharon Richards and Michelle Hughes (stepchildren); Angela Church, Sue Johnson, Nigel Richards, Stuart Jones (respective partners, husbands and fiancée); Nikita Richards, Kimberly Richards, Byron Hughes (grandchildren); Eric and Mair Featherstone (brother and sister-in-law); Pauline and Derek Ward, Kenilworth (cousins), and many other friends and relatives.
    Unable to attend were Sylvia and Doug Lakin, Nottingham (cousins), Jean Shepheard, Surrey (cousin).
