'William Brown Ray, 99, of Cole Camp, died March 9, 2008, at Royal Terrace Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Olathe, Kan. He was born Jan. 21, 1909, in Davis, Okla., a son of John H. and Mary Meeker Ray. On March 8, 1930, he was married to Mary Pearl Featherstone, who died March 7, 1988. On June 18, 1991, he was married to Virginia Mae Davis, who died in 1997. He lived in Sulphur, Okla., until he was 12 years old. He then moved near Sherman, Texas, where he worked in the cotton fields. At age 15, he went to work for Luper Truck Lines in Wichita, Kan. In 1943, he was a machinist for Boeing in Wichita. He retired in 1969 and moved to Cole Camp. He was a preacher at First Christian Church in Lincoln and Ozark Christian Church in Ivy Bend. While living south of Cole Camp, he enjoyed farming, raising cattle, gardening, preaching, eating at Pa Pa Joe's in Lincoln and attending the yearly family reunion. He was a member of Warsaw Christian Church. Surviving are a daughter-in-law, Anise Beth Ray, of Olathe; four grandchildren, Darrel W. Ray, of Bonner Springs, Kan., Bradford M. Ray, of Olathe, David B. Ray, of Valley Center, Kan., and Jeffrey A. Ray, of Amoret; 11 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Curtis Eugene Ray; three sisters, Lela McBride, Stella McBride and Sadie McBride; and a brother, Jesse King. Funeral services will be at noon Saturday at Fox Funeral Home in Cole Camp, with the Rev. Richard Bowman officiating. Pallbearers will be David Ray, Jeff Ray, Kyle Ray, Aaron Ray, Jon Gregg, Erick Gowen and Tony Lockwood. Burial will be in Union-Williams Cemetery in Cole Camp. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions to Warsaw Christian Church or Durant Christian Church in Durant, Okla., in care of the funeral home.'

'Owen Wayne Featherston, 86, of Piggott, Arkansas, passed away February 18, 2012, in the Hospice House in Jonesboro, Arkansas. He was born September 28, 1925, in Rector, Arkansas, and was the son of the late Vernal Doug and Nora Williams Featherston. He was united in marriage to Mae Dean Gilbert on November 10, 1945. They had two children. He was a retired Brown Shoe employee and a local business owner. He served as an ordained Deacon in the Piggott General Baptist Church for 54 years. He was preceded in death by: three brothers: Raymond Featherston, Vernal Featherston, Jr., and Carlos Featherston; and two sisters: Mozella Hinkle and Charlene Scheffler. He is survived by: his wife, Mae Dean Featherston of Piggott; two daughters: Gloria Cox and husband David of Springboro, Ohio and Kay Aldrich and husband Ernest of Warwick, Rhode Island; three granddaughters: Angela Couch, Julia Epley, and Elisha Aldrich; three great-grandchildren: Kaleb, Gracie, and Rhett Epley; three brothers: J.B. Featherston, Don Featherston, and James Featherston all of Piggott; one sister, Vonell Dickerson of Hot Springs, Arkansas; and other relatives and friends. Funeral services were in the General Baptist Church in Piggott. Burial was in Piggott Cemetery.'      Rebecca Sadler was still living when Thomas Sadler made his will in Brunswick County, Virginia, 5 June 1795, and proved 24 July 1796.18

The Sadler Name

After 878 A D , Southern part of England. The county of Wilshire, in the southern part of England, registered it's name in the year 878 A D and the Sadler name was found there at a very early date.  It appeared on the tax rolls that the Kings of England used to levy taxes on their subjects.  In Wiltshire is found Stonehenge, possibly the most famous prehistoric site in Great Britain.  It stands in the Salisbury Plain,which has been used buy the British Army for training since the Napoleonic Wars. The Sadlers came to the colonies from the Southern part of England, which must have been'horse' country. Their name came from their occupation. They were the ones who cared for the horses, the sadlier, thru the name Sadler. Location: Southern England.1
