This is the last will and Testament of me Joseph Featherstonhaugh the elder of Newport Pagnell in the county of Buckingham out of business whereby I appoint my son Joseph Featherstonhaugh the younger of Newport Pagnell aforesaid Rope Manufacturer and my son in law Walter Robert Dodwell of 42 Thornfield Road Shepherds Bush in the county of Middlesex Commercial Traveller to be Trustees and Executors of this my will

I give and bequeath all the Household Goods Household Furniture and Effects which may be in and about my Dwellinghouse at the time of my decease unto my wife Ann Featherstonhaugh for and during the term of her natural life and from and upon the decease of my said wife then I give and bequeath the same unto the said Joseph Featherstonhaugh the younger and Walter Robert Dodwell[herein after called my Trustees or trustee ] Upon trust in their absolute discretion either to sell the same by Public auction or to divide the same unto and equally between my said son and my four daughters I give and bequeath all the monies securities for money personal estate and effects whatsoever and wheresoever [not herein before disposed of]of which I may be possessed of or entitled to at the time of my decease unto my said Trustees and Trustee Upon trust to sell and convert into money so much and such part thereof as shall not consist of money or securities for money [with an absolute power to my said Trustees and Trustee to allow money to remain invested on such securities as they may be satisfied with] and to get in and receive all such part thereof as shall consist of money or securities for money [subject only as aforesaid]and after payment out of the monies so to arise and be received of my debts funeral and testamentary expenses Upon trust to place out and invest the same [subject only to the aforesaid power of my said Trustees and Trustee to continue such securities as may be in existence at the time of my decease and with which they are satisfied ] in their names in Government Stocks or Funds or on Real Securities in England or in or upon the Stocks Funds Debentures Mortgages or securities of any Company incorporated by Act of Parliament and paying a dividend Upon Trust to pay the annual income thereof to my said wife Ann Featherstonhaugh for and during the term of her natural life by two equal half yearly payments on the fifteenth day of January and the fifteenth day of July in each year the first of such payments to be made on the first of such days as shall happen next after my decease and from and upon the decease of my said wife Then I direct my said Trustees and Trustee to stand possessed of such investments Upon trust to divide the same into five equal shares and to pay one fifth part thereof unto my said Son Joseph Featherstonhaugh the Younger , one fifth part thereof unto my daughter Sarah Ann Featherstonhaugh ,one fifth part thereof unto my daughter Elizabeth Stanley, one fifth part thereof unto my daughter Jane Dodwell the wife of the said Walter Robert Dodwell and one fifth part thereof unto my daughter Caroline Caton the wife of Arthur Caton or to the issue of such of them my said Son and Daughters as may be dead at the time of the decease of my said Wife such issue to take and if more than one equally his her or their parents share I enpower my Trustees and Trustee to apply the whole or any part of the income of the contingent share or shares of any minor or minors entitled under this my will in or towards their respective maintenance or otherwise for their respective benefit And I direct my trustees and trustee to accumulate by means of the investments hereinbefore authorised the unapplied income and add the accumulations to the capital of the respective shares whence the income shall have arisen And I also empower my trustees and trustee to apply any part not exceeding a moiety of the capital of the contingent share or shares of any minor or minors entitled under this my will in or towards his her or their respective advancement in life I impower my trustees and trustee to vary from time to time the investment of my Residuary personal Estate limiting them to such Stocks Fund sand Securities as hereinbefore mentioned I devise to my said Trustees and Trustee Joseph Featherstonhaugh and Walter Robert Dodwell their heirs and assigns All the Real Estates[if any] which at my decease be vested in me as a Trustee or Mortgagee subject to the trusts and equities affecting the same respectively I empower my trustees and trustee to give receipts for all monies and effects to be paid or delivered to them or him by virtue of my will and declare that such receipts shall exonerate the persons taking the same from all liability to see to the application or disposition of the money or effects therein mentioned I empower my said wife and after her death the Trustees or Trustee for the time being of my will [if any] or if none the executors or administrators of the last deceased trustee or either or any of such executors or administrators to nominate in writing any person or persons to supply the place of any trustees or trustee of my will who shall die and whether in my lifetime or after my decease or be unwilling or unable to act or desire to retire from the Office and on every such appointment the necessary assurances shell be executed for vesting my Trust Estate in the new and old Trustees jointly or in the new Trustees solely as the case may be I declare that the Trustees or Trustee for the time being of my will shall be competent to exercise the powers and discretion’s given to the Trustees herein named I exempt every trustee of my will from liability for losses occurring without his own willful default and authorise him to retain and allow to his CO-Trustee all expenses incidental to the Trusteeship Lastly I revoke all former wills In witness whereof I have hereunder set my hand this fourth day of June One thousand eight hundred and eighty four
