Child
  • Arthur Featherstone+ b. c 1881, d. 24 Oct 1964; we have him as grandchild in the 1881 census with grandparents Dorothy and Henry F. On the W.Yks parish record for his birth his father is down as Thomas Featherstone.
Elizabeth married Thomas Nelson in 1884 and looking closely at the record he was down as a widow. I have since discovered he married a Sarah Padgett in 1876. I have found a death for her in 1881 at the age of 36 in Keighley.
Now on Mary Hannah F's marriage to Thomas Wild, Elizabeth her sister is down as a witness as is Thomas Nelson and this took place in Dec 27 1879.
I suspect that Thomas and Elizabeth got up to some hanky panky and produced Arthur. On his birth record in filling in the father's name it could not be Nelson as they were not married but the first name is Thomas and that is accurate.

So I think, although there is probably no way of proving it, Arthur is probably Thomas Nelson's son out of wedlock.9
